Rationale: To ensure there is communication and consultation with each other and staff, parents and whanau respect all parties values, needs and aspirations.

Objectives:    To implement an appropriate system for staff and whanau to express their concerns and to be able to resolve any issues. Parents, whanau and staff who have a concern will feel comfortable with raising their issues and receive a fair hearing.

Procedures:  A copy of the ECE Regulations and the latest ERO report can be accessed in our Parent Library Area and may assist in addressing any queries or concerns. If parents and whanau have a complaint than firstly raise this concern with a Senior Teacher or the Manager in the first instance who will be able to resolve small matters. If concerns involve a staff member than the issue will be discussed with the concerning staff member .If the issue is not resolved than  the licensee, staff member concerned and parent/whanau will continue to consult with one another and each phase will be documented, signed and dated by the manager.  All information will be held confidential. If the complaint is not resolved than it becomes a serious case and needs to be put into writing addressed to the Licensee explaining the nature of the complaint. The staff member involved will also be given the right to reply in writing. A meeting will be held where the Licensee, parent/whanau and staff member involved will be present along with any support persons.  If any further action is needed to be taken than all involved parties will be notified in writing.

If none of these steps resolve the issue than the Ministry of Education will be notified. If a staff member has a complaint against another staff member than the same steps above are to be followed.  Serious complaints will be directed to education council. Manager will follow guidance on educationcouncil.org.nz website.
