You see a child being abuse/ you observe signs of abuse in a child/ or a child reports being abused.
Respond to the child's needs
Ensure child is safe from immediate harm. Call 111 if child is in immediate danger
Attend to physical of emotional distress – take child to hospital if needed and listen to child
Inform person responsible
If suspected abuser is the Person Responsible inform Management and CYF on 0508 326459 or Police Child Abuse Team
Prepare written Record
Date, Time, Place of observation/reporting of abuse
Names of anyone present, What the child says-exactly
Physical or Behavioural signs of abuse
Person Responsible
Ensure you have a full report from the person who identified the abuse. Ring CYF 0508326459 report and discuss concerns. You can ring CYF without making a formal complaint. If a formal complaint is advised then follow the guidance from CYF and ask for a timeframe.

Remember to document in the red book if involving a staff member and forward on copy of information to MOE and ED Council
